Our 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team lost a tough game at home last night against Durand Middle School. The game was close until some small mistakes seemed to add up. The girls battled until the very end and showed great effort, which made us very proud! Adalee led the way with 13 points. Alli showed great effort all game long. Coach Cleyman is very proud of the team for never giving up and competing until the final whistle! The Byron Eagles 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team continued to show tremendous growth both offensively and defensively during their first week of action. While the improvements could be seen in the statistics, the biggest strides came through the team’s effort, energy, and attitude both on and off the court. One of the biggest highlights was the team’s energy from start to finish. The attention and enthusiasm on the bench stood out, while the hustle on loose balls and commitment to rebounding made a major difference. The Eagles dominated the boards throughout the game, with nearly every player making a contribution. Payton M led the way offensively with 16 points, followed by Nicole with 9 points. Sophie and Gabby also made significant contributions, creating opportunities for their teammates while adding numerous assists and steals. Perhaps most impressive was the team’s ability to respond when adversity hit. The Eagles stayed composed, continued to battle, and ultimately earned a hard-fought victory over the Durand Railroaders. This eighth-grade squad has tremendous upside, and their potential is exciting. As they continue to develop, gain experience, and build chemistry, this team has an opportunity to make significant strides throughout the season. We are extremely proud of the way these girls competed, supported one another, and represented Byron. The future is bright for this group!
