The Byron Eagles put together a dominant performance on both sides of the football, using an explosive rushing attack and a swarming defense to come away with a convincing 56–8 victory. The story of the night was Byron’s ground game. The Eagles piled up 327 rushing yards on just 24 carries, averaging an incredible 13.6 yards per carry while scoring eight rushing touchdowns. Leading the way was Sophomore #33 Forgie, who had a monster night. He carried the ball just 12 times but exploded for 209 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 17.4 yards per carry with a long run of 65 yards. He accounted for 36 of Byron’s 56 points by himself. The Eagles weren’t dependent on just one runner, either. Junior #2 L'Esperance added 45 yards and a touchdown on six carries, while Freshman #22 Casemore broke loose for a 35-yard touchdown on his only carry of the night. Sophomore #10 Herbst chipped in 40 yards on just two attempts, including a 20-yard run. As impressive as the offense was, Byron’s defense made sure there was never much doubt. The Eagles were constantly in the backfield, recording 9 sacks and 8 tackles for loss as a team. Senior #8 Ritter led the charge with 3.5 sacks, while Sophomore #64 McCartney added three tackles for loss. Sophomore #12 Gatica, Foreign Exchange student #15 Strasser, Freshman #26 Robinson, Sophomore #33 Forgie, Junior #44 Sam Adkins, Sophomore #53 Prestonise and Freshman #75 Vincent also got in on the action. Byron also forced a turnover, with Sophomore #33 Forgie recording an interception to add to his huge offensive performance. It was a complete team victory for an Eagles squad that continues to grow. Byron controlled the line of scrimmage, created explosive plays on the ground, pressured the quarterback throughout the night and allowed just eight points. 327 rushing yards.
